POINTE SHOE FITTINGS

Our resident pointe shoe fitter has been fitting pointe shoes since 1975.  After 40 years she is skilled in diagnosing and correcting problems that dancers may face while dancing on pointe. If it's your first pair you can be assured that it will be a fit that coincides with your teachers guidelines. Please keep in mind that all feet are different and all pointe shoes are different. With our wide selection of pointe shoes available and our years of experience we guarantee to make your pointe shoe fittings a wonderful experience!

FAQ

Does my fitting have to be by appointment? It is not necessary to make an appointment for a fitting. However, if you feel you may be working under a time constraint you may want to call for one.

How long does a pointe shoe fitting last? We're happy to spend as much time as necessary to ensure the proper fit. An average fitting can last 30 minutes to an hour. Please remember to allow extra time if you feel you may have a problem with your shoes.

Do you charge for fittings? We do not charge for fittings on shoes purchased.

Do you allow group fittings? We welcome group fittings but ask that you do make an appointment so that we can better accommodate your group.

Will ribbons and elastic come with my shoes? Ribbons and elastics are sold separate and cost $6 per set. This allows the dancer to have them custom sewn for a preferred fit.

Do you sew on the ribbons and elastics at your store? We do not sew on ribbons and elastics. Some teachers prefer that the students sew them on their own. Customers who are not required to sew them on themselves will take the shoes to a local dry cleaners.

Can I return my pointe shoes? We do not refund, however we can exchange or give store credit for pointe shoes that have not been sewn. For an exchange or store credit the shoes must have not been worn and the exchange must be done within 2 weeks of purchase.

How long should my pointe shoes last? The life expectancy for a professional dancer is 8 hours. However, for someone dancing once a week it is 3-6 months. Beginners will often out grow them before they wear them out. An advanced student may need new shoes once a month.

Pointe Shoe Rewards Program

For each of our pointe shoe customers we keep a card that lists each pair of pointe shoes that are bought here. After every 6th pair the 7th pair is free!

Pointe Shoe Padding

We carry a wide range of pointe shoe padding from lambs wool to gel pads. Prices of pads range from $8-$30. The fit of the shoe can depend on the padding, so please keep that in mind when planning to come for a fitting.
